Pinellas County Utilities teachers tour resources

Think of Pinellas County Utilities for your next school field trip! Our tours are approved by the School Board (see "Pinellas County Schools Approved Field Trip List 2007-2010"). Touring one of our facilities is a fascinating way for students to learn firsthand about water treatment and solid waste management. The most popular tours are South Cross and Solid Waste Operations, both of which offer free bus transportation to school groups.

Indicates resources are keyed to Florida Sunshine State Standards.

WATER TOURS:
	South Cross Bayou Water Reclamation Facility 7401 54th Ave. N., St. Petersburg Free bus transportation available. Substitute teachers are provided for secondary school classes. Tours offered Monday-Friday. Recommended for fifth grade and up. Experienced educator leads a facility tour in a tram. Hands-on water testing activity. 	Clearwater Recycling Facility 1701 N. Hercules Ave., Clearwater This facility is owned by the City of Clearwater. You can watch large machines sorting and baling recyclable materials such as cardboard. 	Heritage Village 11909 125th St. N., Largo 21-acre living history museum with 25 buildings. Tours offered Tuesday - Friday. Teacher guides sent in advance are filled with information and activities.
