What’s All This About Water? – Utilities/Water – Invite a water quality expert to your next meeting to acquaint you with an overview of the basics concerning our regional drinking water supply: where it comes from, water treatment and analysis, discussion about water quality, and how we maintain & protect this valuable resource. You will also learn about successful water conservation techniques as well as programs administered by Pinellas County Utilities that make this one of the lowest per capita water usage communities in the nation. This presentation is available in adult and kid-friendly versions.
No Such Place as Away – Utilities/Solid Waste – Ever wonder what happens to your garbage when you throw it away? This presentation covers Pinellas County’s integrated solid waste management system, including waste-to-energy, sanitary landfills, recycling programs, and the household electronics and chemical collection center (HEC3). Audiences are encouraged to take responsibility by reducing, reusing, and recycling their wastes, as well as “closing the loop” by shopping for items made with post-consumer recycled content. Video (DVD) optional.
