Each fiscal year the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners allocates funds for Social Action Funding (SAF). This program provides financial support for social service programs that positively impact the residents of Pinellas County and enhance the quality of life. Legal reference is found in Pinellas County Board of County Commission Resolution 01.40.
The Social Action Funding Committee will consider funding in the following areas:
- Programs that require MATCH funds and match is unavailable from other sources;
- Programs serving the ADULT POPULATION;
- Programs that provide NUTRITION, SHELTER, and HEALTH SERVICES to the indigent population;
- In partnership with the Pinellas County Coalition for the Homeless, SAF also approves Homeless Initiative Funding. This funding is restricted to programs that provide EMERGENCY SHELTER to the homeless population. The same guidelines apply to Homeless Initiative Funding as are utilized for Social Action Funding.
