For $35- or less you can choose a dog or cat to be a part of your family! Adoptable animals will be vaccinated and sterilized prior to moving to their new homes.

Animal Services addresses animal welfare and overpopulation issues, encourages responsible pet ownership, and provides a Shelter & Adoption Center for lost or homeless animals. The center responds to approximately 900 calls from citizens daily, provides public awareness programs, promotes animal adoptions, and coordinates emergency programs affecting animals or people via animals. The Shelter & Adoption Center is open to the public six days a week. An Animal Welfare Trust Fund has been established to provide extra services, such as special food, needed by some animals but not provided for in the department's budget. This Trust Fund is supported by donations from caring citizens.

Notice:
The shelter and adoption center at Pinellas County Animal Services will be closed to the public Thursdays beginning the week of Sept. 22. The reduction in hours is due to budget reductions. Animal Services will continue to be involved in enforcement activities on those days.
The new hours of Pinellas County Animal Services are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The adoption areas will close 30 minutes prior to the shelter closing. The shelter will not be open to the public on Thursdays, Sundays or holidays. The outside animal drop-off will be open on those days that the shelter is closed to the public.
“In order to reduce our budget we decided that the Thursdays hours would have to be cut. This way, we are able to maintain our Saturday hours, which are very popular with the public,” said Dr. Welch Agnew, director of Pinellas County Animal Services. “However, that does not mean that our commitment to the public or the animals we care for is any different than before and we urge our citizens to come tour our facility and visit with our adoptable pets.”
