This Department's
primary functions are the maintenance and operation
of Pinellas County's road network, bridges, drainage
systems, stormwater management and permitting compliance,
mosquito control, vegetation management, lake management,
public works permitting services, utility coordination,
street lighting program, and traffic sign and signal
systems.

Highway
Operations
The Highway Operations Division repairs, maintains
and reconstructs the County's road network, including
roads,
bridges, and sidewalks to benefit the motoring public
and protect the County's investment in infrastructure.
Responsibilities also include maintenance of streetlights,
roadway landscaping & pond enhancement, mowing,
grading, tree trimming, repair and replacement of roadside
drainage, and guardrail and handrail maintenance.
Stormwater
Management
The Stormwater Management Division constructs and maintains
the waterways and drainage structures within the County's
jurisdiction, including street sweeping, and maintenance
of canals, lakes, ditches and culverts. This division
maintains stormwater facilities in compliance with the
SWFWMD and FDEP permits, as well as in an aesthetically
pleasing condition
Traffic
Operations
The Traffic Operations Division is responsible for all
regulatory sign manufacturing, installation, and maintenance,
as well as linear road striping and flat marking. This
division maintains all County operated traffic signals,
serving as a contractor for 22 municipalities within
the County. Educational presentations are provided by
this division.
Mosquito
Control
The Mosquito Control Division provides for an environment
as free of mosquitoes as possible for the comfort and
well being of the public. It monitors the environment
for the presence of any mosquito-transmitted diseases
and takes proper abatement actions. Mosquito Control
uses an integrated pest management program, focusing
on source reduction. This division also provides educational
presentations to the general public. This division services
all of Pinellas County including municipalities.

Vegetation
Management
The Vegetation Management Division controls aquatic
weeds in the County's ponds, canals, ditches, and creeks.
This division also provides chemical spraying of the
right of way, mitigated and planted stormwater sites,
and harvesting and removal of weeds.
Lake
Management
The Lake Management Division controls exotic vegetation
in the County's public lakes, canals, major drainage
and selected ponds. This program analyzes sites for
improvements that will raise the level of service, and
improve water quality and bio diversity. Educational
presentations are provided by this division.
